I first picked up a camera in 2007 while living and working in The Dominican Republic. Photography helped me overcome the language barrier and connect with people on a soul level. It gave me a lens through which to share my stories with the world and to process my own experiences abroad.
I eventually shifted from photojournalism to wedding photography, but I’ve never lost my obsession with storytelling. In fact, it informs everything I do as a photographer and as a business owner. With over 10 years of experience in photography and event coordination, I’m able to provide both excellent work and an excellent client experience. Your needs, wishes, and vision come first as my client, and I prioritize communication and trustworthiness throughout the entire process. My personal faith is also important to me, and it compels me to treat all my clients with respect, kindness, and fairness.
From the moment you send me an email, I’m all about cultivating a relationship with you so that by the time shoot day rolls around, you’ll think of me as more of a friend than a photographer!
Having never done professional pictures, Melanie totally made me and my fiancé feel comfortable during our engagement shoot. She came ready with various tricks and tips to capture fun and loving photos. She was a blast to work with!
My perfect day is spent at the beach with my closest friends, my fiancé, and a giant burrito.
Travel gives me life. My ideal vacation style is semi-planned—you know, the kind that makes space for laying by the pool with a good book and spontaneous adventuring!
I’m extremely passionate about women’s empowerment and try to support my fellow female business owners whenever possible.
I love decorating and redecorating my house every few months (my poor fiance can never find what he’s looking for).
My ideal Friday night involves raucous games, good friends, and a glass of wine.
Oh, and I’m as adventurous as they come.
That crazy idea you’ve been dreaming up?
